The St. Tammany Parish Communications District is dedicated to providing all Public-Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) with high quality, standardized education. The Communications District utilizes training courses developed through the APCO Institute to provide training for Public-Safety Telecommunicator (Basic Training), Communication Training Officer, Communications Center Supervisor and Fire Service Communications.
The Communications District also provides specialized training to agencies that provide Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD) to callers by certifying their employees using the APCO EMD Program. All of these training courses are nationally certified and recognized as superior training opportunities. Agency employees are also given equipment training to ensure that all call takers are capable of operating our state-of-the-art computerized telephone and mapping systems to its fullest extent.
